More teaching ideas for Forward Number Word Sequences –
- Number Aerobics – Here’s a link for a poster with some examples for movement while you practice the number sequences. http://www.classroomfreebies.com/2012/09/number-aerobics.html You may want to make your own chart, based on the needs of your students.
- Do you ever say, “Please be in your seats (or some other activity) by the time I count to ____?” Instead of starting from one, start and stop at different numbers. For example, if you want to give them 5 counts, count from 18-22. If you say, “Please be in your seats by the time I count to 22,” students may think they have a long time but when they hear where you are staring to count they will realize the time will be short. This will also give your students opportunities to hear you say the number sequences fluently.
