I Love to Read Month

The past two summers I have challenged myself to read a children’s book each day of summer vacation.  In 2012 I read all kinds of books and looked for a math connection to each book.  You can see the results here http://www.pinterest.com/DDibley/summer-reading-project-2012/  Last summer I specifically looked for books about math.  Here’s what I found at the public library http://www.pinterest.com/DDibley/summer-reading-project-2013/  During the month of February, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite finds with you.
This week’s book is Two of Everything by Lily Toy Tong.  Here are two lesson ideas http://mathwire.blogspot.com/2010/04/two-of-everything.html  and http://illuminations.nctm.org/Lesson.aspx?id=3294.  Another version of the story is on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYRo0o1sZ9o
Happy Reading (and Math)

  1. I would love for you to check out my math book – Zero, Zilch, Nada: Counting to None. It is great for the 100th day of school, counting by 5s, 2s and 10s, as well as reinforcing 10 sets of 10.
Hope you can give it a read.
